Designing complexsystems thatship.

Hi, I'm Josh, a front-end developer turned senior product designer with 12+ years of experience untangling enterprise software. I lead 0→1 work, design systems, and the kind of quiet refactors no one notices but everyone benefits from.

How I show up.

Collaborator

Exploring new ideas, jumping into CSS tweaks, or whiteboarding through a problem. I work best shoulder-to-shoulder with the team to drive the strongest outcome.

// WE will take the ring to mordortap

Relentless

Comfortable with ambiguity and persistent through blockers. The interesting problems are always behind a few boring ones. I'll go find them.

// Comfortable with hidden dragonstap

Craft across disciplines

I design and I code. That mix lets me bridge vision and implementation, ship realistic specs, and keep the gap between Figma and production thin.

12 years,
one winding road.

Web Designer
Phase 01·2011 — 2013

Web Designer

Cut my teeth on marketing sites. Learned that hierarchy is most of the job and that a grid is a tool, not a religion.

Phase 02·2013 — 2018

Front-end Developer

Wrote production HTML/CSS/JS for companies that cared a lot about pixels. Learned what's expensive vs. cheap to build, knowledge I still use every single day.

Phase 03·2018 — 2021

UX Designer

Moved into enterprise: finance, healthcare, security. Owned design systems, accessibility, and end-to-end flows. Started thinking in systems instead of screens.

Senior / Lead Product Designer

Leading 0→1 and platform work. Partnering closely with PM and Eng to ship faster and argue less. Comfortable with both the strategy doc and the spec.

What it's like
working with me.

Systems thinking. I default to building scalable patterns and component libraries rather than one-off solutions, so the work compounds over time instead of creating more debt.
Complex enterprise workflows that have gotten out of hand, the kind where users have learned to work around the product instead of with it. I've spent 12+ years in cybersecurity, finance, and healthcare, which means I'm comfortable with high-stakes, high-complexity problems where getting it wrong actually matters.
I'm the person teammates come to when something's stuck. Friendly, collaborative, and genuinely dependable. When something's blocking us, I'll kick down whatever doors are necessary to move forward. People know that when I'm involved, it gets done.
Closely and directly, which is easier when you can speak their language. I've contributed to front-end production code, implemented design systems in Bootstrap, and spent enough time in the codebase to know what's actually feasible.
Teams where design has a real seat at the table and engineers are treated as partners, not executors. I do my best work when there's a hard problem, a collaborative team, and enough trust to move fast and iterate.
